What today is about
First real work day on the Landscape Reading. Location locked. Biography started.
The first 15 minutes is teacher conferencing; your location locks today. From this block forward, every Landscape Reading activity is on YOUR place. The middle 50 minutes is independent work: Google Earth (with historical imagery), GSI / Bhuvan maps, the curated photos for your location. The closing 15 is a paired peer-check protocol, designed to catch missing evidence and questionable inferences early, before they're baked into your draft.
The peer-check is not feedback yet. It's an evidence audit. The question your partner asks is one of two: "what's the evidence for that?" or "what's missing?". That's it. The actual rubric-based peer feedback happens in Block 8 after the worked example in Block 7.
Before you start the work
Start with the Watch: projected and recorded, so you can replay it during work time. The Read is today's working spec, and the Interact closes the block in pairs.
Today's work: choose one path
First 15 min: teacher conferencing to lock locations. Then 50 minutes of work, then 15 minutes of peer-check. The path you pick is about how to spend the middle 50.

Three things in your dossier folder: (1) location confirmation written down (a one-liner naming your location is enough: "I'm doing Marina Beach, the segment north of the lighthouse"). (2) Component 1, landscape biography (past): Step 3 from the Landscape Reading, ≥4 timepoints with the right processes and vocabulary for each era. (3) Component 2, current processes: Step 4, 3–4 active processes each with evidence. Both are K/U components and they lock today: you get a strand band on each that becomes part of your overall K/U mark.
