What today is about
Urban rivers are Chennai's most contested surface-process arena.
The Cooum and the Adyar aren't just rivers. They're decades of policy fights (restoration plans, encroachment removal, sewage interception, flood mitigation) and competing claims about what each river is. Today: river-process vocabulary (drainage basin, channel, floodplain, delta, estuary), the two case studies (Cooum + Adyar), and the OPVL move that will be central to your Landscape Reading.
The closing discussion question (should urban rivers be channelized, or restored?) has no clean answer. Engineering says channelize (predictable flow, less flooding, more land). Ecology says restore (riparian habitat, flood buffer, water quality). Politics says something in between. Today the question lands; in Block 9 you'll defend a recommendation on something equally contested.

All four paths end with at least one structured OPVL on a river source. The path you pick is about which river, how many sources, and which move you stretch on.
Factstorm, then compare. Three rounds:
Round 1 (4 min, groups): everything you know about the Cooum river. Facts, memories, things your family says about it; all of it goes on the list.
Round 2 (3 min, whole class): we ask the class AI platform the same question and capture its list beside ours.
Round 3 (5 min): three comparisons. What did the AI have that the room didn't? Pick ONE and verify it before trusting it. What did the ROOM have that the AI didn't? Notice what kind of knowledge that is. And the quiet question: given what the room produced in four minutes, what was the AI actually FOR here? Keep all three answers; today's source work is about exactly this river.

OPVL is the T/T thread for the Landscape Reading. Today's submission is your first concrete practice on a real Chennai source set.
Three OPVLs (one per source), plus a 3-sentence synthesis. The synthesis names the single most contested claim across the three sources, and which source you'd cite for what, with reasoning. Specificity in the Limitations is what separates T/T 7-8 from T/T 3-4.
